Wellness care is about living life free from disease. Many of the choices people make contribute to their poor health. A good example of this is smoking. People who smoke put themselves in the line of fire for several types of cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and diabetes. Today, most people understand that smoking is bad for them, but there are other lifestyle issues they may not consider, even though they lead to similar risks, such as not getting enough exercise or eating fatty foods.
Through wellness care, Dr. Cordell can evaluate aspects of your medical history and lifestyle to give you valuable insight into achieving well-being. Of course, there’s no way to prevent every disease, but effective wellness care gives you the best chance at good health for years to come.
Preventive health care is similar to wellness care, but it focuses more on prophylactic measures to prevent or slow the progression of disease through early diagnosis. Most people want to live longer and better, but that takes some planning. That’s what wellness care and preventive medicine provide.
